What is Shamanism and Shamanic Sound Healing?

The areas in our lives where we experience a lack of wellness always have a spiritual dimension; often, it is the root cause. Shamanic healing addresses the spiritual dimension of our issues by doctoring the soul. Shamanic Sound Healing engages the magical creative force of sound to manifest our intentions for wellness. Sound is the carrier wave of intention. When directed by spiritual guidance in a container of love and benevolence, sound creates amazing vibrational changes in our physical, biochemical, neurological, spiritual, mental, and emotional well-being.

Shamanic healing arts are ancient practices performed by many cultures around the world, and have been around for more than 40,00 years. Shamans work with benevolent compassionate spirits who are eager to find a vehicle to bring their power and wisdom to Earth for healing. Shamans are that vehicle--ordinary people having extraordinary experiences channeling divine healing power and wisdom to people and places of need.

I have been most honored to be gifted with this way of working since 1998, through extensive training (primarily through the LightSong School of Shamanic Studies and the Foundation for Shamanic Studies), initiations, ceremonies, and life experiences.

The soul-doctoring work I do uses a unique blend of shamanism, Reiki and sound healing. Sound has a magical way of carrying love and intention into the areas of need and for setting into motion healing and manifestation of prayers, visions, and dreams. When you pursue your healing with me, you will be bathed in the sacred vibrations of healing sound and songs to enhance the energy systems of the body, mind and spirit for sustained wellness. Your job is simply to say yes, to believe and receive.

I have been doing this work for 14 years and am always amazed at the fact that each person I see calls forth new wisdom and ways of being in the world. So I thank you in advance for being the magnet for change and illumination!

When is it time for shamanic sound healing?

When we feel like we are not quite our selves, feel like we have dense or dark energies hanging around in our lives, when we feel like we are missing a part of ourselves, when we are feeling low, are having recurring physical or mental pains or other issues that are interferring with a productive life and well-being...basically, all of us could use some shamanic healing, most of the time!

Here is a little more about some of the ceremonial healing you can experience in your sessions with me:

Extractions--Sometimes we need to have negative energies that may be causing re-occurring emotions, feelings, thoughts, or behaviors to be addressed and removed. We all get dense energies trapped in us from interactions, events, people or places we encounter. These dense energies can make us feel tired, ill, moody, and can cause addiction, chronic pain, or negative habits. Removing these in ceremony ("extractions") and replacing them with highly vibrant energy will leave you feeling lighter, clearer, fresher, and relieved of burdens, darkness, and feelings of ill-at-ease.

Soul Retrieval and Power Animal Retrieval-- Soul parts, or parts of our spirit essence, can be lost through illness, minor or major trauma, past events, even negative self-talk. Loss of this essence can cause you to feel that you are "missing" some part of yourself. Soul loss frequently results in recurring pain, illness, depression, addiction, and negative behavioral patterns. Soul retrieval recaptures and restores wholeness to your soul, restoring vibrancy, optimism, vitality and zest for life. Power animals always accompany the lost soul parts back to help integrate the soul parts back into the whole of the soul, and to help guide you on your path of healing.

Forgiveness and Cord-Cutting--We are all connected to people, places, and things in our lives through cords. Often these cords bind us to old patterns, feelings, relationships, ways of being. In this ceremony, cords are cut, people are forgiven, and through this process, soul essence is returned to you. Thus, this ceremony is a major soul retrieval, freeing you up from the past in amazing ways that empower you to move forward on your path. You will also merge more deeply with your true self in this ceremony.

Compassionate Spirit-release--From time to time, we pick up energetic "hitchhikers" or spiritual entities that get trapped in our energy field. This ceremony heals and releases these spiritual entities, leaving you feel more like yourself, healthier, more vibrant.

Curse-unraveling--We or other people in our lives make oathes, declarations, and statements about us, that can keep us in a particular unhealthy state of being. This ceremony dissolves these, freeing you from the tethering effects of words said with negative energy.

Song and Sound Doctoring--Sometimes our soul, our mind, our bodies need to hear and receive a particular sacred song, a series of sounds or vibrations to get unstuck and to come to a higher state of well-being. Song- and sound-doctoring is a part of all healing practices I do with you.

Reiki treatments-- Reiki is a Japanese modality of energy medicine that reduces stress, aids in relaxation, relieves pain and enhances overall wellness. In my Reiki treatments, sound enhances the vibrational healing that Reiki naturally provides.

Around the Wheel Energy Balancing and Issue Divination & Healing--This shamanic sound session seeks to address specific issues, utilizing the power of the medicine wheel, and  a combination of some of the above healing ceremonies.

Frequent Sequences of Treatment:

I typically see people at least 3 times for their initial treatments: the spirits perform extraction, spirit-release, curse-unraveling ceremonies during the first session; we then follow up with a second session of soul retrieval, and the third session follows with the forgiveness & cord-cutting ceremony. And, sometimes a simple sound bath and energy balancing is all that is called for. Whatever we do together in session is determined by the spirits.

Then, we typically see each other for maintenance sessions, emphasizing issue-focused ceremonies that may include Around the Wheel and Divination, during which we ask the spirits for healing and advice around specific issues in your life. During these sessions, extraction and soul retrieval may be indicated, amongst other kinds of healing ceremonies that emerge specifically for the person (this is always very exciting!).

Animal Soul Retrieval

Animals need soul retrieval too! I have begun doing this sacred ceremony on pets, with wonderful results. Most of our pets have experienced trauma, and they are also more responsive to shamanic healing than humans because they have no egoic filters. These sessions usually are done in the animal's home.

House Clearing

During these ceremonies, dense energies and historical configurations and thoughtforms are cleared, leaving your home open to your new signature of power and wisdom.

I have noticed that once a person sets the intention to come see me, the power and compassionate spirits become engaged, before the person arrives. By the time the appointment rolls around, the healing is greatly in motion.

Lauri is an active practitioner in shamanic sound healing, a Reiki Master and a ceremonial leader and singer. Her mission is to be a clear and open channel (the "hollow bone") for wisdom and healing power to flow from these realms to earth, on behalf of wellness for all beings and the earth.
